Request for Donation Letter Sample

By | November 5, 2014

Obtaining funds for a particular cause or project may be one of the most important things that you have to do to ensure its success, but it is quite tricky. Convincing people or organizations to release money is challenging especially when your cause or project has an unknown success rate.

The best way to request a donation for a charitable cause is to write a letter to the donor. This form of communication is most useful as it can clearly and succinctly provide details of why you are asking for funding and how you intend to use it.

Many non-governmental organizations thrive on donations from donors who are interested in furthering their causes. Keeping in touch with these donors is essential so that they can be provided with information of how the organization is faring and a way can be paved for further donation requests. If you are looking for a way to request a donation, you can read the following donation letter sample for reference.

Dear Ms. Raymond:

SOS Village located at 476 Fife Avenue, Tacoma has been in existence for over thirty years. Ever since its inception, we have upheld its core mission, i.e., to provide homeless children and young adults with a safe abode and to help them reintegrate into society as responsible citizens.

Over the years, we have successfully created and developed many plans that have contributed effectively towards our goal. Our most successful project Reintegrate Me has been responsible for placing 20,000 young adults in responsible positions where they have been provided with great opportunities. We are now in the process of launching another similar project through which we intend to help young adults learn skilled work so that they have good job opportunities and a bright future.

This project has immense potential, and we have much support in terms of logistics. We would like you to be part of this emotionally lucrative project and invite you to make a cash donation. Our goal amount for this project is $200,000, and we hope that you will be able to contribute to enabling us to begin.

We have enclosed a donor envelope with this letter and anticipate a positive response from you. Regardless of size, every donation matters “an ocean is just many millions of drops of water”!

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Sincere regards,

Mike Miles
