If you’re moving, then it’s time for you to transfer your electricity connection to your new location. All you have to do is write a letter to the person in charge of your connection at the electric company. If you don’t know who that is, simply write, “To Whom It May Concern,” and it will get to the right person.
Make sure you provide all relevant information in your letter, including any reference numbers or connection numbers you have been assigned, the address of your current connection, and the address of the property to which you’re transferring the connection. Once you’ve done that, quickly go through any guidelines the company provided you at the time of installation, since doing your homework in this case will save you a great deal of time. Now, you’re ready to write your letter.
Since it’s an everyday thing for such companies to receive letters like this, you won’t have to worry at all about them being slow to respond. Here is a sample letter with examples of names and addresses, underlined, which you can replace with your own, hope it helps:
Electricity Connection Transfer Request Letter Sample
January 10, 2017
Mr. James R. Webb
AlwaysShine Electrical Inc.
1295 Pyramid Valley Road
Burlington, IA 52601
Dear Mr. Webb:
I would like to transfer my electrical connection from, (current address), to property located at, (new address). Since I am moving on March 23rd, and the property I’m moving into is in the same neighborhood as my current, I would prefer to transfer instead of creating a new electric connection, as it is easier for both you and I.
Please take this letter as my two weeks’ notice, which I am bound to give, as per the contract we signed when the service was installed. I am prepared to receive your personnel after the two weeks’ notice for the transfer. Please keep in mind it must be done before March 20, 2017.
My reference number which was given to me at the time of installation is xxxxxxxx. If there is any further information required, or any questions you have for me, please feel free to contact me at (999) 888-8544
Looking forward to hear from you soon to discuss the transfer requirements, procedure, and changes to the service agreement, I remain,
