Apology Letter to Boss for Poor Attendance

By | December 6, 2014

No company tolerates poor attendance. Coming in late to work or not coming in three days out of five in a week puts a very bad impression on employers and can end up in termination of contract of severe disciplinary action such as pay cuts or demotions.

It is unfortunate that many of us do not take attendance seriously and end up getting into a lot of trouble with our bosses. If you have been in such a situation, you will know that writing an apology letter to your boss about your poor attendance will not make him go against company policies. However, an apology can save you your job! How? Well, an apology letter to your boss will be taken as your intent to do something about your poor attendance. Your boss might give you a second chance and not demote or fire you after all.

Your future is in your own hands so if you have had poor attendance, write an apology letter to your boss and assure him that you are doing something to make sure it doesn’t happen again! Here is a sample you can use.

Apology Letter to Boss for Poor Attendance

Dear Mr. Picard:

Please accept my apologies for not being able to make it to work for more than two days in a week since for two weeks. I know that it has not only affected my work but has also had a compound effect on the workings of my department since I am working in a supervisory role.

I had been having much trouble waking up in the morning since October this year. Initially I attributed this to late nights and much stress at work. Two days ago, I went in for my periodic blood tests and I was diagnosed with Type A Diabetes – the real reason for my being lethargic during the mornings. I am now on medication for this disease which the doctor says will begin to work in a week.

As my contract states, I am willing to have my salary deducted for the days that I have not attended work as I feel it is only fair. I will be working diligently to get my feet back on track and make up for any losses that may have transpired due to my poor attendance. I apologize once more and look forward to working with more zeal than before.

Regards,

Nathan Hall
