Thank You for Donation Letter Sample

By | November 5, 2014

Once you have successfully acquired the donation you needed for a cause you are furthering, it is time to say thank you to the donor. It is often easy obtaining contributions from donors once you have explained the cause to them, but it is difficult to maintain a liaison with them once your work is done. But keeping in touch with your donor is the most important thing to do if you want a stable relationship with them.

A thank you letter to a donor is quite simple to write. You explain the circumstances that have transpired to make you write this letter and thank them for their contribution. But a thank you letter does not end here. You may think you have said the most important thing but what is more important than a thank you in a thank you letter is information on how you intend to use the money.

While your intent to use the money is not exactly what a thank you letter should detail, it is essential to mention it casually. Thisaction will make sure that the donor is on the same page as you and knows what his money is being used for. Look at the following thank you letter sample to understand this:

Dear Mr. Kirk:

Please accept our sincerest thanks for your very generous donation for our project Reintegrate Me. Your big-heartedness and generosity have provided SOS Village with considerable financial and moral support both of which we appreciate highly.

Your contribution will have an enormous impact since we will be using it to kick-start the project. Once we put this on the road, we anticipate that it will run towards the goals we have set. To reiterate how your money is being used, we would like to inform you that we have placed it in a fund from which we will periodically take money out for each participant of the project. The purpose of the project as you know is to assist homeless young adults in learning skills that will help them obtain good job opportunities.

As and when the project proceeds, we will be sending you periodic reports of how it is progressing so that you can keep abreast of things. We would like to extend our appreciation for the faithful commitment you have demonstrated towards our causes over the years that we have worked together.

We look forward to a continuing partnership with you over the next many years.

Sincere regards,

Collin Girth
