Fundraising Letter for Non-Profit Organizations

By | January 17, 2017

Non-profit organizations do a lot for society. If you’re working for one, I salute you! Part of the daily chores of a non-profit organization is writing fundraising letters. Since some organizations don’t work for just one cause, they have to write an array of different letters, fundraising for different causes.

This can be a little tough, as you have to engage the reader in the first paragraph, and find a way to ethically pull at their reader’s heart strings. You have to stimulate the reader’s sympathy for the cause for which you’re fundraising. My advice to you is to keep it short and sweet, as no one reads tediously long letters. Before you begin writing, know that not everyone responds to fundraising letters favorably, and if they become irate, it’s not because you wrote a poor letter, it’s because they just are that way.

Let your passion for the cause flow into your letter, and touch anyone who reads it. Here’s a sample letter. For your convenience, the template is written in such a way that all you have to do is replace the underlined text with your particulars, and you’re all set!

Dear Mr. Ruiz:

I am the representative of Fight for Education, a non-profit organization working for making college education more available for deserving students all over the country. We are currently supporting and paying the tuition fee for over 3,000 underprivileged students at Ivy League Colleges.

Knowing how our latest generations are being crippled by student debt, or are unable at all to receive the quality education that is their basic right, we have set the goal for supporting 13,000 students by the end of 2020. To make this dream a reality, we need the help of good Samaritans like yourself. By donating a mere dollar or a hundred dollars, you will have secured a brick in the foundation for a better future.

If we all work together, we can empower all of our children to make the contributions they were meant to make to the nation, and be the bridge on which the future can walk to prosperity!

Please call us at (000) 652-8545 to donate, and help a deserving, bright young adult get into college.

Sincerely,
