Sample Loan Application Letter to Employer

By | January 8, 2015

Many companies offer loan services to their employees, provided that they have worked for the company for a certain period of time. Depending on what an employee draws as a monthly or annual salary, a maximum possible loan amount is calculated – this figure or percentage is decided by the company. For instance, the company may decide that a loan amounting to 5 salaries is the maximum that an employee can apply for. This means that the employee can apply for only 5 times his salary. The best way to obtain a loan from an employer is to write a loan application letter.

While many companies do have predefined loan application forms that you can fill out easily, if your company doesn’t, you can simply write an application letter. The contents of a loan application letter are simple – you need to state a reason why you need a loan and how much will suffice. You should make sure that the loan amount which you mention is well within the allowed limit so that the employer knows that you have done your homework. Asking for an unrealistic loan amount is sure to put off the employer and your chances of qualifying for a loan may be in jeopardy.

You can have a look at the following sample loan application to gauge how to write your own.

Dear Ms. Newhart:

Please refer to the enclosed loan application form that I have completed for your review. I am in urgent need of some funds to cover my mortgage expenses for the last 3 months. I have fallen behind on my payments due to my divorce (my ex-husband does not contribute to the household expenses anymore) and I need to make up for this before the mortgage company sends a notice to me.

After consulting with Ms. Farrah Coleman (HR Manager), I have determined that I am eligible for a loan amounting to three times of my present monthly salary, the total loan amounting to $12000. I would appreciate it if my loan is approved on an urgent basis so that I can meet my mortgage obligations. I understand that an amount of $825 will be deducted from my monthly salary once this loan has been granted to me and I accept this deduction.

Thank you for your time in reading this and reviewing my application. I look forward to receiving a reply from you soon.
