30 Day Notice to Vacant Apartment

By | August 26, 2018

Vacating an apartment is always a big deal you have to perform a lot of duties, especially packing and moving. But there is one more thing that you have to do before you pack your things and move out give notice to your landlord that you intend to vacate the apartment. This is usually a 30-day notice that provides a date to the landlord when you will be moving out.

Writing a 30-day notice to your landlord is not that complicated. You can pretty much use language that you are comfortable with this can include words and phrases that are semi-formal, or even casual, depending on what your relationship with the landlord is.

Provide a timeline, and then briefly say why you have decided to move out. It could be the fact that you have found another place to live in, or you may be moving away. In any case, it is imperative to be able to edict the whys and when of the situation, so that the landlord gets a chance to take in another tenant.

There is one more reason to write a 30-day notice, which is to provide the landlord ample time to arrange for any security cash that may need to be returned to you. To see how you can write a 30-day notice to vacate an apartment, have a look at the following sample:

Mr. Arthur Willis
262 Red Road SE
Green River, WY26734

Dear Mr. Willis:

I would like to inform you that I will be vacating Apartment 5A (Madison Heights Apartment Building) on the 25th of September, 2018, as I will be moving back to my hometown, Teton Village. I was not anticipating this move, but personal circumstances have made it impossible for me to stay in Green River for longer than a month.

Having recently gone through the tenancy agreement that we signed, I am relieved to see that a months notice is required to vacate the apartment. I have been cautious while I was living here, and have treated this place as my own, which is why I don’t think that you have much to worry about.

I must admit that I have been very comfortable during the time that I have spent at this apartment. It would make things easier for me if you would return the security that I have paid to you, before or on the day that I vacate.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Kayla Williams
