A lot of tact needs to be exercised when asking for a money donation from someone. Whether it is a company or an individual from whom you are requesting a donation, it is important to be to the point and give details of what the donated money will be used for.
Well-drafted donation request letters can play an important role in your development efforts so you must pay special attention when writing them. Preferably, your letter should be addressed to the decision maker within the organization. If you write to him / her directly, your chances of approval increase manifold. Be very open about your reason for asking for money donations. Why are you asking for one? What will the money be used for? Who will benefit from it?
If you have already been sanctioned a donation from a certain organization, your chances of approval increase so mention a time when donations were received earlier. If your project was successful, the donor will have no issues granting you another similar loan. The following money donation request letter example can help you. Have a look!

Re: Money Donation Request
Dear Ms. Logan:
I am writing on behalf of SOS Children’s Village. Our office is located on Adams Street in Topeka, KS. SOS – Children’s Village houses, educates and places a number of homeless, runaway and orphan children in a bid to improve the quality of their lives. We have been involved in several outreach programs, a list of which is enclosed with this letter.
In March this year, we are planning to lift off a project which we have dubbed Helping Minds. The idea behind this project is to provide our children with psychological support in addition to the logistic and physical support we are already providing. We have signed on a number of local psychologists to help us and it looks like a win-win situation.
We are now looking for money donations so that the take-off of this project is effortless. We would appreciate it if you could donate $2000 – this amount will have a significant effect on our children as far as their psychological needs are concerned. The cost of this program for each child amounts to $500 so by donating this money, you will be helping 4 children.
Please contact me at (222) 222-2222 for further information on this project.
Thank you very much.
