There is little that is more gratifying than sending money to a charity that you really believe in – or receiving it for one that you advocate. In either circumstances, you will need to write a letter to the concerned person – depending on which side of the table you are, you may want to thank the person for a received charity amount or enclose a check for the charity you are writing to.
If you have decided to send in some money to a charity that you believe in, you need to know that the letter you write is basically a cover for the enclosed check. However, this does not mean that you do not need to write much. Since you need to be able to connect with the people who are furthering the same cause as you are, you should write something that will help you bond with them and pave the way for future liaison.
You will need to include your reason for sending in the money, how you came to know about the charity and how you relate to it. The following letter of donation to charity should help you write your own.

Dear Ms. Robertson:
I have been a member of the Lupus Awareness Program since I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythemetosus in 2008. I have been through the highs and lows of the disease ever since and your program has provided me with much needed support and advice during these years.
The good news is that I am now in total remission which is a milestone for me and I would like to share my happiness with the people who helped me the most during this time. I was recently left some assets by a distant aunt and it was upon liquidating them that I managed to acquire the treatment that helped me move into the remission phase of this disease. I understand how important financial support is for people who are unable to work due to this debilitating disease which is why I have decided to share what I have with them through your foundation.
Enclosed is a check for $10,000 for furthering the mission of the Lupus Awareness Program. While I would like you to use it to provide your members with the revolutionary treatment that I went through (details are enclosed), it can be used any other way that you deem appropriate.
I would like to thank you once again for your support and making my life as normal as someone with this disease can possibly have. Please feel free to call me at (444) 444-4444 if I can be of any assistance.
Regards,
Arno Jamison
