Wishing a happy New Year to family and friends gives one a warm feeling especially if you are away from them and might not be able to welcome the New Year with them. In such a case, writing a letter is the best way to wish them and connect with them.
A New Year letter will primarily include your greetings but since greetings will not fill the length of a page, you can write anything your heart desires. You can tell your family or friends that you miss them on this special day or anything else that you want to let them know. A New Year letter can also serve as a means to make plans for the coming year – you may want to talk about a party you are holding later in the month for which you would like your family or friends to join you.
Since New Year letters are written informally, you can basically tweak them to your benefit. You do not have to be formal unless you write to a boss or a colleague. A New Year letter to family or friends can be written in this way:
Sample New Year Letter to Family and Friends
December 31, 2015
Dear All:
2016 is just a day away and I would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year. 2015 has been a wonderful year only because all of you were a part of it. I pray that the coming year brings you fun, success and health and that we all stay together to enjoy it.
I may not be with you on this very special day but I want you to know that I am with you in spirit. Had it not been for my work, I would have flown to Nashville for New Year. On January 15, I am hoping to travel to Nashville on a business tour and would love to see you all. Maybe we can celebrate the New Year a little late!
My resolution for 2016 is to make an extra effort to meet my family and friends as often as possible, as living away from you all has really made me understand how hard it is to manage without good company. I anticipate seeing you all in the middle of January so please keep a few days free to mingle!
Have a blessed 2016!
Best regards,
