Apology Letter for Stealing from a Friend

By | November 10, 2016

Losing a friend because of a mistake that you made can be a terrible thing – not just for you but for your friend too. But if you have done something to your friend that has hurt him or her, it is time you apologize. By apologizing, you may not be able to mend your relationship too well but at least your guilty conscience may get a beating.

In these “digital” days, writing an apology letter may seem like a thing of the past. On the contrary, an old fashioned letter may just be what the doctor ordered, owing to its simple and personal nature. By all means, write a letter of apology to your friend if you have hurt him by doing something terrible such as stealing from him or lying to him! What can you possibly write that will make your friend forgive you for your blatant mistake? You know your friend the most, so it is up to you to decide what you can write to make him trust you once again. This is a difficult task but the power of words is such that you never know when it might work!

Let us help you by providing you with this sample apology letter written for a situation in which an individual has stolen from a friend:

Apology Letter for Stealing from a Friend

November 10, 2016

Dear Dylan:

I am ashamed and extremely sorry for breaking your trust in me, by stealing the money from your drawer. This act has not only created an uncomfortable situation between us but has also made it very difficult for me to face you. I apologize for this lapse in judgement and the consequences of my deed that now see us on the brink of a failed friendship.

Over the last 3 weeks, I had been facing a terrible financial difficulty. I was meaning to talk to you about it, in the hope that you will be able to help. Had I done what I wanted to, we might not be at this stage in our lives at this point. In a moment of terrible misjudgment, I simply took what was not mine, hoping that you would never find out about this terrible act of mine. But I see now that the consequences of this unlawful gain are not worth the friendship that I have lost.

I will repay every cent of what I took by the end of this year. I know it may not be possible, but if there is any likelihood of us being the way we were before this unfortunate incident transpired, I would give an arm and a leg for it! I never wanted to hurt you but I know that this is exactly what I have done. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me.

Forever your friend,

Sam Neil
