The first day at work is a harrowing experience for many people so if you are in a supervisory position in your company, it is your job to welcome new staff members in a formal way and make their first day easier on them. Writing a welcome letter to new staff members is the surest way of making them feel at ease on their first day.
Remember that some of the new staff members may have acquired their first job at your company so they will be more intimidated than others. Receiving a welcome letter will make them look forward to fitting in and ensuring that they are not defensive. So what does one write in a welcome letter? You can write several things when writing a welcome letter; you can take the following route:
1. Welcome staff members to the company
2. Write a little about the organization and its client base
3. Wish them luck
4. Open the door for conversation
Want to know how to put all of these in a welcome letter? Here you go!
Sample Welcome Letter to New Staff Members
December 18, 2014
Dear New Staff Members:
I would like to welcome you all to Haley’s Comet. This is an exciting time for all of us as we continue to grow and inject new blood into the company. As you all know, Haley’s Comet was founded in 2001 and has seen a lot of growth in the past few years. At this point in time, we are increasing our employee base as we see a great future ahead and many growth possibilities for all employees of this company.
Each new staff member has already been provided with a copy of his / her job description so we are all on the same page here. You will report to Mr. Kyle Caber (Marketing Manager) on your first day at work (December 22, 2014) after which you will be provided with your placement information.
We pride ourselves as being customer focused and open to new ideas and we would love to hear your input on any of the projects that you are assigned to. There will be a formal orientation at the office auditorium on Monday, details of which Mr. Caber will provide to you as you sign in for work.
If you have any questions that require immediate answers, please contact Ms. Jillian Hall (Human Resource Manager) at (222) 222-2222. I look forward to meeting all of you personally at the orientation. Once again, let me take this opportunity to welcome you all aboard and wish you the best of luck!
Best regards,
Yana Ecclestone
