Appreciating someone in person is such a great feeling – especially for the person who is being appreciated. But imagine receiving an actual old-fashioned letter that speaks volumes for your contribution to a project or the company. How would that make you feel? Awesome is the word! So why not make an employee feel good about themselves and the work that he has done for you by writing an appreciation letter to them for their honesty.
In these days, when you see an act of honesty, you should not give up the opportunity to appreciate it. Since you won’t find many such instances, it makes sense to appreciate them if one does transpire. A letter of this sort should be written earnestly, detailing which incident led you to be appreciable of what he or she did. The letter should be addressed directly to the employee and should have an easygoing tone. Even though a letter of this sort is deemed professional correspondence, there is no need to be overly formal. Of course, you cannot be too familiar either since you are writing to an employee, so try to keep a balance.

Dear Ms. Gale:
Yesterday’s incident where you showed immense integrity and loyalty to the organization has come to my notice, and I would like to appreciate your honesty through this letter. I am not sure that I know someone who returns $100,000 which was accidentally credited into their account – I truly appreciate the fact that you did.
It is employees like you who give our bank the good reputation that it holds in the country and I must say that I am proud of the way you handled this. Even before this, I have received many commendations for the way you handle clients and work with your colleagues, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your contribution to the organization.
At the end of the week, I am throwing a small celebration to show you how much the company appreciates your honest ways. It would be a pleasure to meet with you and thank you in person. This incident will set the bar high for other employees working at the Bank of America, who I anticipate will want to follow your footsteps.
Thank you once again for showing your integrity and escalating the reputation of our organization.
Sincerely,
(Signature)
